You have probably heard that Apple's Apple TV+ starts on 1 November, but did you know that Oprah Winfrey will be bringing her book club to the new TV streaming service? The aim is to connect a community of readers worldwide to stories that truly matter by today’s most thought-provoking authors.

Her first choice will be The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates. The book is about Hiram Walker who was born into bondage on Virginia plantation. But he is also born with a mysterious power that he won't discover until he risks averything in an attempt to escape. One fateful decision will carry him away from his makeshift family into an underground war on slavery.

Ta-Nehisi Paul Coates is an American author and journalist. Coates gained a wide readership during his time as national correspondent at The Atlantic, where he wrote about cultural, social, and political issues, particularly regarding African Americans and white supremacy.
