Wireless synching Blackberry to iCal

I use to sync my Blackberry to iCal manually using a cable and the Blackberry desktop software, but now I've found a way to do this wirelessly and automatically.

I set up a Google mail account and then added this account to my Blackberry, ensuring that I ticked the Calendar box in the Synchronization Options.

I then added the same Gmail account to the Apple Mail application and the Google calendar was then accessible though the Apple Calendar application.

I can now access and edit my calendar on the Internet, my desktop and my Blackberry but not, unfortunately on iCloud. Putting a calendar on iCloud prevents the Blackberry from synching with it - even using the the Blackberry desktop software.

Psychics fail scientific test

Two mediums who claimed to have psychic powers were unable to demonstrate their ability under laboratory conditions.

They were asked to identify characteristics of five randomly selected people who were hidden behind a screen. The volunteers were then asked to try to identify themselves from these psychic readings.

But the pair were only successful in identifying characteristics of the volunteers at a rate of one in five, an outcome entirely consistent with the operation of chance alone.

In response, one of the psychics pointed out that their work is usually done face to face and not behind a screen.

Education spending falling fast

Public spending on education in the UK is falling at the fastest rate since the 1950s, says the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

The independent financial researchers say spending will fall by 13% in real terms between 2010-11 and 2014-15.

In England, the deepest cuts are in school buildings, higher education, 16-to-19 provision and early years.
