Installation Instructions for Desktop programs

In these instructions, 'Application' is used as general application name. To install a specific application, substitute 'Application' with the application's name.

Windows
Mac OSX
Linux

Android Apps

First you need to enable your device to install applications from unknown sources. This is usually found in Settings > Applications or Settings > Security.

Click on the link you have been given to download the file, navigate to the Downloads folder and click on the application (e.g.alco.apk) to install the app.

Your pre-installed downloads viewer may not recognise your download as an application - it won't display the icon and will treat the app as a folder. If this happens, try installing a file explorer such as ES File Explorer

Web Apps

Use your smart phone to navigate to the web app by clicking on 'View' on the resource description page. You can add the app to your home screen to make it perform more like a native application. In Safari, click on the 'Share' button at the bottom of the screen and then scroll to, and click on 'Add to Home Screen'. In Chrome, click on the Menu at the top-right corner of the screen and click on 'Add to Home Screen'.

Our newsletter and newsfeeds, as well as our pages on facebook and twitter, will let you know when an app has been updated. If you do not notice any difference when you next use the app, you may need to go to your browser's settings and clear your browsing history. If this doesn't work, try removing the app (as you would any other app) and re-installing a per the above installation instructions.

Please note that we do not collect any data about you, your usage or results when you use one of our web apps.
